CHARLESTON, SC

The James Island Park Center is raised on masonry piers overlooking a man made lake. This is a mixed use building with administrative areas, conference rooms, snack bar and dining areas, and public restrooms. Except for the Conference wing the spaces are surrounded by extensive covered deck areas.

In contrast to many park structures this is with the heavy masonry piers of split face concrete block, a rather robust looking building.

Completed: 1990 Const. Cost: $ 1.1 million
