Recreational

          GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC

Completed in 1994, this project includes three buildings: a concessions building with public restrooms and dressing rooms, a trading post including a store, administrative offices and an exhibit space, and a park ranger residence.

The trading post and the concessions building are situated near the beach. They are elevated on masonry piers and from their platforms there is an unobstructed view to the ocean.

The masonry piers continue through the first floor up to the roof. The exterior walls of the second floor are treated as solid infill panels with wood siding between the masonry piers. In some cases the masonry piers are topped with a wood frame which is open or is infilled with a wood lattice.
