|MARGUERITE H. BROWN MUNICIPAL CENTER|
CITY OF GOOSE CREEK, SC
Merit Award, SC, AIA
This multifunctional Municipal Complex encompasses approximately 33,000 square feet including City Hall, the Police Station and Municipal Court. The three buildings are united by a covered walk terminating with towers. These towers mark the entrance from the parking areas defining on two sides an entrance courtyard which is centered on a circular drive and a fountain.
Porches in front of each building separated from the entrance lobbies to each building by glazed walls penetrate through the covered walk.
The plans for City Hall and the Municipal Court Building are organized around the council chamber and the court room respectively. At the Police Building the plan is organized around a central courtyard.
The complex is situated on a piece of land which is master planned to become a public park. It is the first building within this park and it is setting the tone for future structures. Construction on the second building in the park a Community Center has started.
